DSC01072cover mistsHunger is a great motivator and our little band of spiritual warriors were forced to explore the surrounding Carcassonne area in search of food….

Everywhere seemed closed…this is not on, I thought, we deserve a bit of culinary reward for our healing efforts. Now most of our intrepid band were vegetarian and apart from our farmhouse it had been quite difficult to find decent food other than bread and cheese , but we had high hopes for an omelette or pizza dish if we could just find anywhere…

My eagle eyes soon picked out a sign that pointed to a castle restaurant. Now that’s got to be good , I thought…castles…food….past lives as knights…its all coming together…

I love castles so this sounded like a perfect match except as we drove closer and then over the bridge and through the port cullis into the courtyard , I felt uncomfortable. I  didn`t like this place, I didn`t know why…

We approached a waiter like chap who escorted us to a table outside the main restaurant to wait for a free table…. a moonlight night , sitting in the courtyard to a castle, red wine , good company, it should have been an ideal recipe. Their was a strange atmosphere, I wasn`t in a very good mood, others started arguing , then someone could hear horses and hooves riding round the empty courtyard….

Somethings going on here…”lets leave” I said,” find somewhere else ,” before I could convince anyone, the waiter re appeared and ushered us into the main building. It was like that moment in a western , where the whole place goes quiet and everyone looks at you…

Are my flies undone ? do we all look really English ( apart from one Irish girl amongst us )It was bizarre , they all stared then as we sat down resumed their normal conversations. They sat us right in front of a large tapestry which showed a man with a quill writing in a large book as he looked down upon some chained Templar knights.

It started to make sense to me, this was the castle I knew when I was a Templar knight and my brothers and I were drawn into this place under false pretences and betrayed. Years earlier I had gone for some healing and this past life had been revealed to me . It helped explain many things to me in this life including why I had such a fascination with toy soldier crusader knights ( I had hundreds ) and castles as a child and why these period of films were never far away from my dvd player…

I  was so inspired by the story of this lifetime, that I turned it into a song ” THE TALE OF FOUR KNIGHTS ” on my ” THROUGH  MISTS OF TIME ” album ( available on the music page ). Actually the cover of the album is from a photograph I took as we travelled back from Rennes les Chateau.

I believe I had to re visit this exact castle to reclaim a fragment of my soul I`d left behind though the drama of that Templar lifetime.
